Taiwan Increases Pesticide MRL Inspections for Cherries
Current Situation: As of July 17, 2023, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has reportedly increased pesticide MRL inspections of U.S. cherry imports.
There have been four non-compliance pesticide residue violations on cherries during the 2023 season. The fungicide Mefentrifluconazole (Cevya®), for which there is no established MRL in Taiwan, has been the cause of violations.
USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) is seeking confirmation on the rate of inspection. Shippers are advised to be vigilant with product bound for Taiwan at this time.
