Taiwan Announces Increased Inspection Rates for U.S. Cherries
The Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) announced that U.S. cherries shipped to Taiwan will undergo enhanced border inspection measure from April 1 through September 30, 2024, in response to Maximum Residue Level (MRL) violations during the 2023 cherry season.
TFDA stated the inspection rate will be between 20 and 50 percent, increased from the baseline rate of two to ten percent.
Growers and shippers are reminded to be vigilant regarding MRLs on cherries destined for Taiwan during the 2024 growing and shipping season.
