Mexico Initiates Antidumping Investigation into U.S. Apple Imports

On January 7, 2026, an antidumping investigation was launched by Mexico’s Secretaria de Economia into apples imported from the United States, as published in Mexico’s Diario Oficial (here). The Regional Agricultural Union of Fruit Growers of the State of Chihuahua (Unifrut) originally petitioned the Mexican government in August 2025 to bring a case.

The period under investigation is from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025, and the period for damage analysis is from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2025. The announcement lists Red and Golden Delicious, Gala, and Granny Smith as the most common apple varieties imported from the U.S. However, all varieties are subject to the investigation.

Additional details on the investigation can be found in this news article.

Interested parties have 28 business days to submit a response. The NHC, along with Northwest Fruit Exporters, is working with legal counsel in Mexico regarding next steps. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.
