Northwest Horticultural Council
Proposed USDA Organic Marketing Order
The Northwest Horticultural Council opposes the formation of a multi-commodity “Organic Promotion, Research, and Information Order,” which would be operated under the supervision of the United States Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service. The Organic Trade Association, headquartered in Washington, D.C., is the primary advocate of this proposed new federal marketing order, which has a projected annual budget of $30 million. Funding would be derived from mandatory assessments on organic industry members.
